Advent Calendars

My #1 project to get done over the two day ‘retreat’ was the advent calendars inspired by Elizabeth Hartman for Sew Mama Sew’s blog.

In the beginning...

In the beginning...

I did adjust the pattern a bit to make the white border strips just one width instead of two and I also increased the size of the pockets to 7 inches and I decided to (gulp) use fabric glue for all of the felt numbers (which, quite honestly, was the biggest time suck of everything…cutting out those numbers).

It was total bliss to be able to lay out all of the pockets and leave them in one spot for the time it took me to put them together without curious little fingers, sliding socked feet and helpful elves cleaning up ‘the mess on the floor’ and handing each pocket to me one at a time.

It took up the bulk of my two day retreat, but I’m pleased with the results (i.e. that they actually have them ready starting for December 1st).

I put each of their names in felt in the middle but blurred them out for privacy.

Now…I need to figure out what nice messages/treats/munchies to fill them with!
